About Indian Institution of Technical Arbitrators

Established in the year 2003, The Indian Institution of Technical Arbitrators, (IITArb.) with Headquarters at Chennai, India, is an All-India, non-profit, professional body of Engineers and Architects, registered under Societies Registration Act, 1975.

MAJOR OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTION
To popularize Arbitration as a cost effective and speedy alternative method of resolution of commercial disputes.
To impart training to members and others in various aspects of Arbitration by conducting short term courses, seminars, workshops, in-house programmes etc.
To carry out research in Arbitration.
Build up a specialized reference library.
Take up Institutional Arbitration.
Offer consultancy in Arbitration matters with special reference to preventive aspects.
The IITArb. provides a single platform to Technical Arbitrators, Financiers, Planners, Developers, Architects, Engineers of all disciplines as also Builders, Researchers and Manufacturers so as to form collective opinion on the subject related to Arbitration and project the same for consideration by appropriate authorities.
MEMBERSHIP:
1) Fellow Member – Degree or Equivalent in any branch of Engineering /Architecture Minimum of 20 years Professional Experience including 5 years experience in the field of Contract Management or Arbitration after graduation.
2) Member – Degree or Equivalent in any branch of Engineering / Architecture Minimum of 10 years Professional Experience after graduation.
3) Associate Member – Degree or Equivalent in any branch of Engineering / Architecture with minimum of 5 years Professional Experience after graduation.
Presently there are more than 1000 members, spread all over India, who have held or are holding senior positions in Government, Public Sector and Private Sector undertakings.
The members are bound by a strict “Code of Conduct”.
ACTIVITIES:
The Institution is conducting Lecture Meetings, Seminars and Training Programmes throughout the Country from time to time and publishes a quarterly bulletin, Technical Arbitrator for the benefit of members. It has centres all over India at Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochin, Kolkatta, Mumbai and Madurai Local Centre. Various departments / companies are seeking the help of IITArb. for empanelment of Arbitrators for their disputes.

Our Work

IITArb brings out a Quarterly Bulletin "The Technical Arbitrator", which is circulated among members and other organizations and individuals concerned with Arbitration.

MEMBERSHIP: Fellow Members - Degree or Equivalent in any branch of Engineering /Architecture
